Daniel Patrick Hodges, Sr.
October 11, 1937 - May 14, 2015
Brooklet- Daniel Patrick Hodges, Sr., 77, passed away Thursday, May 14, 2015 at Ogeechee Area Hospice in Statesboro after a long illness. He was a native and life-long resident of Savannah before moving to Brooklet fourteen years ago. Mr. Hodges served in the U.S. Navy before starting a life-long career with International Paper (Union Camp) in Savannah. While living in Savannah, he was a long time member of Calvary Baptist Temple and after moving to Brooklet he started attending First Baptist Church of Statesboro. After forty-four years of service with Union Camp as a Boilermaker, he retired and spent time traveling, fishing, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren. Daniel was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was preceded in death by his wife of forty years, Mary Frances Hodges and brothers, Richard and Ben Hodges.
Mr. Hodges is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Patrick and Crissy Hodges of Charleston; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Lee and Billy Rogers of Brooklet, grandchildren, Chandler and Gracie Rogers of Brooklet and Georgia Lee Hodges of Charleston; sister, Sue Smith of Newton, NC, and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 16, 2015 at the Hodgson Chapel of Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Guyton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that remembrances be made to Ogeechee Area Hospice, PO Box 531, Statesboro, GA 30459.
So sorry to hear about Dan. I really enjoyed visiting and talking to him when Suzette and I would come down to visit. I know you all will really miss him but remember that he will always live in your hearts and in your memories. Love and prayers sent to you from North Carolina.
